It is easy to get in on the fun this fall in San Diego when you attend some of the cool events scheduled to be held in and around the San Diego Convention Center. Located right along the waterfront, the San Diego Convention Center, hosts trade shows, conventions and many special events that are open to the public. The Convention Center and Convention Center area’s fall 2013 calendar includes the following fun events that everyone will enjoy.

Quilting has become quite the rage in recent years. Quilting clubs and quilting classes are spread across the country. More than 4,000 attendees are expected for this year’s non-juried quilt show. Over 300 handmade quilts, all of them made with love, will be on display. You can find everything you need to make a quilt, or select your favorite, already completed quilt, from the more than 50 vendors who will have booths at the show. Take a class and learn how to quilt from some of the best teachers in the country. When you attend the show, you will see some of the most beautiful quilts you ever saw, meet fellow quilters and get inspired to make a quilt of your own.

If you like going to those big box home improvement stores, than you will absolutely love the spectacular San Diego Fall Home Show. With hundreds of vendors displaying and demonstrating their new products, there is always something new and exciting to see. Get ideas for weekend projects around the house, see the latest products and newest technology, and ask the experts all of the questions you may have. Every year, this is one of the most attended public shows because everyone is interested in improving their home and fixing up their yard.

TriRock is an event where individuals of all ages and abilities get a chance to challenge themselves in a test of physical strength and endurance. TriRock is the largest triathlon event in San Diego. This year’s event has two distinct races. The Sprint race requires participants to swim 500 meters, bike 8.5 miles and run 3 miles. The Intermediate race is more challenging and requires each entrant to swim 1,500 meters, bike 21 miles and finish with a 6 mile run.

Participants are separated into different divisions based on age. A separate Military/Public Servant Division is reserved for members of the active military and public service workers like policemen, firemen and paramedics. To qualify for the Clydesdale/Athena Division, men must weigh at least 220 pounds and women must tip the scale at 165 pounds or more.TriRock takes place along the beautiful downtown San Diego coastline. It starts and finishes across from the San Diego Convention Center. Bleachers are set up by the finish line and fans can also root on all of the athletes at viewing points all along the route. The race helps benefit the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. After the triathlon concludes, everyone is invited to celebrate with a fabulous concert in Embarcadero Park.
