I recommend splurging for the luxury suite.  The uber posh two-bedroom suite offers families plenty of room to spread out, two full balconies, and in many cases, a wrap around view from the corner of the hotel.  The bedding (even in the pullout bed!) consists of Italian linens, down comforters, and fluffy pillows; you won’t want to get out of your bed as you watch the glimmering Pacific out your window from complete comfort & luxury.  Kids will love the little touches that include a pet goldfish to observe, and parents will appreciate the two bathrooms.  Cool amenities like free Wi-Fi (by joining the free loyalty program), hip and funky bathrobes, top-of-the-line eco-friendly toiletries, and an honor bar with yummy but healthy organic snacks made this adorable room even better.   If you or your kids forgot an essential travel item like your toothbrush or razor, the front desk has it free of charge!

If you are hungry, you have a couple options.  Room service is available 24-hours/day, but if your kids are up for it, head upstairs to the 11th floor super chic restaurant, Cusp, touting the best views in La Jolla. For a more casual afternoon, your kids can hop in the heated pool for a swim while you grab a cocktail from the outdoor lounge, Hiatus.  A hosted wine hour is offered every evening before the opening of Hiatus and is the perfect opportunity to sample a few new vineyards.

Spa service at the hotel comes straight to the privacy of your room for complete ease and comfort.  On-site fitness centers and a few running trails that start right from the hotel can help you burn off your travel-induced calorie splurge.
